Firefighting

When disaster strikes don't hesitate

Wildfires are a scourge on the rural communities of the UK and cause large-scale damage to wildlife, ecosystems, and property. Skyhook has invested heavily in specialist equipment and training to allow us to offer an airborne fire attack service. Skyhook aircraft can drop 1000 litres of water onto a wildfire on average every 3-4 minutes when on task, allowing an otherwise out-of-control blaze to be slowed down and stopped in a much shorter period than using conventional ground-based methods, especially when the blaze has affected areas of forestry or hard-to-access moorland.

We work closely with landowners and the fire service to constantly update and review the way wildfires are tackled in Scotland and across the UK to make sure that we bring the fire under control as efficiently and quickly as possible.

During the summer months, Skyhook staff remain on high alert for the danger of wildfires and are always ready for a callout, allowing us to respond quickly.

When a wildfire strikes, don’t hesitate to call, and Skyhook will respond. We also welcome calls out of the fire season to set up procedures early and speed up response times in case a wildfire strikes.

In the event of a wildfire, you can reach us on:

We will act as soon as we can, as wildfires that are not addressed quickly can escalate and become difficult to control.

We are also available year-round to help establish procedures in advance, ensuring a faster and more effective response if a fire does occur.

"The addition of a fire attack aircraft to a wildfire scene can significantly reduce damage to property and wildlife and create a much safer environment for firefighters and other ground staff to work to extinguish the blaze."
